About Our Team

Dr. Shaye Simpson Hurd

Dr. Shaye Simpson Hurd is one of the cofounders and partners of Tricounty Eye Associates.Dr. Hurd was born in Greer, SC. She attended the University of South Carolina where she graduated cum lade with a bachelor of Science majoring in Biology. After that she completed her Doctorate of Optometry at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry. After graduating in 1997, she moved to Charleston, SC to join her husband, Mark.

Dr. Hurd and her husband are proud parents of 2 sons who are attending USC. Sher enjoys traveling, boating, tennis, pickleball and playing with her dog. She attends Northwood church.
Dr. Hurd has been a member American Optometric Association, the SC Optometry Physician Association, and the Coastal Carolina Optometric Society her entire career and currently serves on the SCOPA board.

Dr. Lauren Metzler

Dr Metzler was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. She received her undergraduate degree from Troy University and went on to earn her Doctorate of Optometry from UAB School of Optometry. Dr Metzler's love of Optometry and the eyes began in 7th grade science class, and now she has the opportunity to do her dream job. She is greatly looking forward to starting another, more recent dream job- becoming a Mother-late this summer. She loves sports-both watching and playing. Currently, she is enjoying playing tennis and pickleball with her husband, Perry. Their faith is of utmost importance to them, and their church community is what brought them to Charleston in the first place. They've enjoyed living here the past year and meeting new people. Dr. Metzler is excited to meet you too.

Dr. Julianne Gant

Julianne Gant, OD, is originally from Pinehurst, North Carolina. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Boston College in Chestnut Hill, MA. She attended optometry school at the New England College of Optometry in Boston, MA. She completed a residency in Ocular Disease management, Specialty Contact lenses, and Low Vision at the Ralph H. Johnson VAMC in Charleston, SC. When she is not at Tricounty Eye Associates she also works at MUSC Storm Eye Institute. Outside of work she enjoys exploring Charleston's restaurant scene and playing Pickle -Ball.

Jodi McGinnis

Jodi is one of the partners of Tricounty Eye Associates! She enjoys hanging out with her husband and sweet daughter, Harper when she isn’t working! Jodi has been an optician for many years and will be happy to help find you the perfect pair of glasses or sunglasses!

Kim Rogers

Kim Rogers is one of the cofounders and partners of TriCounty Eye Associates! She has been an optician for over 30 years!
She has lived in the Lowcountry her entire life, is married, and has 2 sons that are dear to her heart. Kim is also a proud KiKi to her three grandchildren, Dawson, Elliott, and Wrenn! She has a deep love for the beach! You will always find her with a smile on her face, and she will go above and beyond to help you in any way possible!

Verna

Verna is our Practice Administrator & Insurance professional.
Verna has over 30 years in the eyecare field. She believes that there is always something new to learn and that communication is key to any work or personal relationship. Verna is always doing something, whether it is planning a work or family event, creating a new spreadsheet or something new for the family handmade craft business. She enjoys spending time with family, friends and her Beagle Cricket.

Chris McGinnis

Chris is a Licensed Optician and ABO certified and is TriCounty's Favorite Lab Manager. When he is not working , Chris is spending time with his Wife-Jodi and Daughter Harper exploring outside , having a Tea party or playing Video games.
